A62 Crane Supervisor
This course will inform delegates about how to undertake the duties of a crane supervisor as instructed by the appointed person. Delegates will learn how to safely supervise a lift while complying with current regulations, legislation and codes of practice. Delegates will be advised of the necessary managerial and practical consideration in supervising lifting operations and will be given the opportunity to put this information into practice during simulated exercises in the training room. On completion of the course, delegates will have sufficient knowledge and information to safely supervise lifting operations for a mobile crane on a busy construction site.
This course aims to prepare delegates for a CPCS A62 Assessment.

The CPCS Crane Supervisor course covers the following:
- Legislation, regulations and codes of practice relating to lifting duties
- Safe systems of work (including risk assessments and method statements)
- Personal responsibility
- The role of crane supervisors and appointed persons
- Crane appreciation including types of cranes and common terms
- Crane documentation, stability, duty charts and safety devices
- British Standard 7121
- Preparing an area with exclusion zones
- Planning a lift
Who this course is for
This intensive programme is for managers and supervisors who are responsible for supervising lifting operations in a construction or industrial environment. Experienced slinger signalers who are looking to become crane supervisors may also attend this course.

Certification
Successful delegates will achieve a red CPCS trained operator card that is valid for 2 years. During this 2-year period, delegates will need to achieve a Level 4 Diploma NVQ in Controlling Lifting Operations – Supervising. This will enable delegates to upgrade their red card to a blue CPCS competent card.

Assessment
This course involves a high proportion of hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises, supplemented with classroom-based tutorials and pre and post-course assessments.

The content of this course includes awareness of periodic examinations of equipment. Additional training relating to this subject may be of benefit to delegates and further information is available upon request.
