  • Health and Safety in Construction – a necessity to gain a Green CSCS Card, critical to site entry
  • Principles of civil engineering
  • Drainage and stormwater management
  • Abrasive wheels and power tools
  • Detection of buried services using technology
  • Carbon impact and reduction
  • Waste Management
  • Concrete Placing, compacting and finishing
  • Plant operation – accredited by NPORS or CPCS

Course length and location

  • Duration: Typically 2–3 weeks, full time
  • Location: the programme is delivered at one of our state-of-the-art Academies in Rotherham, Sheffield and Doncaster.

Road Building Skills Bootcamp

Our Road Building Skills Bootcamp is perfect for those looking to specialise in highways maintenance and road construction, equipping learners with the skills, knowledge, and practical training to build a lasting career in infrastructure.

What’s Included:

  •  Health & Safety in Construction (NVQ-aligned)
  • Environmental Awareness & Carbon Footprint
  • Mental Health Awareness in the Workplace
  • Abrasive Wheels & Safe Use of Power Tools (NVQ Knowledge)
  • HAVS (Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome) Awareness
  • Operating road plant machinery (FTD, ROR)
  • Site-based NVQ assessment
  • OneFile e-portfolio training

Streetworks Training Includes:

  • Location & avoidance of underground apparatus
  • Signing, lighting & guarding
  • Safe excavation in highways
  • Reinstatement in various materials (non-bituminous, bituminous, modular)
  • Compaction techniques

Accreditations:

  • New Roads and Street Works

The programme is ideal for current site workers ready to progress or those looking to re-enter the industry in a more senior role.
